My employer has a monthly series where the public gets to know radio hosts in an informal setting. It's held at a local upscale bar, where people come and listen to you chat on stage for a half hour, followed by an audience Q&A. I couldn't think of anything to talk about, so someone said "How about your DeLorean?"

Two other local owners (Steve Rice and Fred Duplechin) will join me, so we'll have two (or maybe three) DeLoreans in attendance. I'll try to get some pictures.

And just for fun, here's the radio spot I produced.

Hey Farrar,

I'm wondering if you know Terry Havel at all. He was the program director at KSLU in Hammond from 2008-????

I know Terry well and used to work with him back in my days working radio in SE Wisconsin.

I can't say I've ever met him, but I'm sure I've heard his name before. Some friends of mine have attended and/or taught at SouthEastern.

Isn't Terry one of the co-founders of the now defunct I-55 Internet? Back in the early days of dialup, I-55 was one of the only two companies that provided internet access to the Hammond area.

Why don't you drive down here a few days before the event to make sure Farrar's car is ready for the get together?

I don't have a field trip that week, but I do have a church obligation July 28 so I would need to be on the road back by Saturday.

First question from the audience: "Are these cars any good?"

It's not a radio event, so it won't be broadcast. However, if I can get permission, I might bring my videocamera and put it on YouTube.

My fiancÚ is actually away for a few days just prior to the event. I plan on spending every evening while she's away working on the car. I can give up cooking and eat peanut butter sandwiches for a few days -- it won't kill me. I still have to work that week, though, so I couldn't entertain a house guest.

I have to make a parts order from Houston to get my car ready because I have destroyed the glove box and inner door seals, and I need a headlight (or hazard) switch. By the way, what's the best way to get rid of the goop the outer door seals leaves behind? That stuff is awful, but a razor blade scratches the stainless.
