OK, so I took #1798 to an annual car show in Battle Creek, MI today. I've never won anything at a car show in my life. But if I didn't take a dump in my pants when they announced that #1798 had won the Best of Show out of 213 total registered entries!

I think everyone was captivated by the fact that I was trusting 32 year old belts to successfully make a 100 mile round trip

Another rarity about this show is that I left it without a single fingerprint anywhere on the car - imagine that! May have something to do with the fact that this show is hosted by the local Boy Scout troop. I must say, those Boy Scouts do show the utmost respect for the show cars!

Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera with me, so I snapped a few pics with the trophy when I got her home and back into my messy garage:

Thanks Patrick!

Ever make it down to the Southern Tier?

Rarely. I work in the Mackinaw area (soon on Mackinac Island) so I don't get downstate too often.

Awesome man. Your car is a concourse beauty.

Thank you!

We'll find out how it does against the trailer queens at the DCS concours in 2014 - for that, I'll put the NCTs, dark grey center caps, and stove pipe / heat up valve back on the car. I'm going to try to keep the belts and hoses all original as well, at least until that event anyway. Also get the A/C operational, as then everything on the car will be fully functional. Aside from adding a LockZilla and FanZilla, the relay / fuse compartment is also 100% as it left Dunmurry. Hopefully, I'll at least beat Chad post carb conversion in the concours
