View Full Version : Need a quick water pump measurement

If someone has a water pump removed or currently sans hoses, could I get an O.D. measurement on the left-hand connection? I can't fit my caliper in what small space is left and I don't want to back the hose off until I'm really properly ready to have a coolant leak.

This would be the side of the pump with the hose going over / by the compressor.

If possible, the thermostat OD could be useful too.

Coolant distribution hose: 1 3/4"
Heater core return: either 5/8" or 3/4" hose (I've seen both)

Thermostat groove: 2.842"

Thanks Bill, although re-reading my post I believe my morning coffee might not have reached my brain, and I may not have worded it well.

To be sure, I think the 2.842" measurement is what I'm after. If you were to start at the hard line that the otterstat is a part of, the rubber hose that connects the otterstat hard line to the water pump widens at the end, and that widened diameter is the measurement I'm after. Is 2.84" correct for that? I figured both the pump inlet / outlet are the same OD but I didn't want to guess.

The idea here is that I need want to re-route that rubber coolant line back behind the compressor as the early VINs had. To do so I need a coupler that goes from the hard line OD to whatever the water pump inlet OD is.
